Ruby is recognized for its outstanding color which is bright red and is also very valuable. It is considered as one of the rare gemstones that is also among the prettiest in the world due to its high demand. Nonetheless, the reality is that acquiring rubies is a challenging task.
Rubies that are raw and taken out of the ground tend to show characteristics such as inclusions and cloudiness, especially those that do not contain the particularly special hue of deep red mixed with purple tints. Jewelers must also be careful about rubies made out of glass or rubies that are simply heat-treated to enhance color.
Nonetheless, the lab-grown market is plagued by exactly the same problem, only its resellers and manufacturers flood it with different grades, qualities, and price ranges.
Suppose steady supplies of rubies are your goal, along with a desire to dominate the higher end of the jewelry market.

Let alone the magnificence that such aesthetic charms granted to those who glanced at them over the centuries.
But what’s even more remarkable about this stone is that when it is Unmatched, it can be customarily crafted in Burmese ruby.

Ruby can certainly turn out to be a gold mine if know its cutting and selling edges, because ruby is the gemstone that belongs to corundum group of minerals, owing its particular deep color to chromium. The rubies color influence greatly wherein these rubies color is said to be the lasting deep best color of a stone. Almost all people favor the round and oval cuts due to their round edges with a clear cut overtone.
If properly understood, the color, clarity and size of these gemstones would be perfect to find their specific meanings, it’s not only an age old saying but actually effective.
Cut from the sanskrit ‘ Rubi’ meaning ‘ the king of gems ‘ , rubies are indeed quite regal. They are; and can be given as presents for weddings or anniversaries as well but rubies are generally said to be the birthstones of people born in July.
Commonly known as the hardest and bright red stones, rubies are very beautiful gemstones but very scarce. This essentially means that rubies make one of the ideal gems for ornament making for even when rubies are cut and polished, slaughters can manage to maintain the best quality of tint, shade and proportion. The rubies, like other gemstones, come in different colors, but the blood red ones, particularly the pigeon’s variety, are the most favored by jewellers and collectors alike.
Let's start off by clarifying that lab rubies are simply rubies that are formed in a lab but otherwise are same as natural rubies found in the earth. On the other hand, synthetic rubies are designed to look like lab rubies but are grown in labs instead of being mined. Now, the explanation of the two terms is provided below.
Lab Grown Rubies:
Synthetic rubies are nothing but chemical created rubies in labs, agate covers the rubies slowly and over time the rubies are formed by figuring out how one can use nature as a par.
These rubies are made up of mostly corundum which is a crystalline variation of aluminum oxide, and hence these rubies have chromium in very minute amounts which sort of gives it a reddish colour.
As they don’t require mining, they do not disturb the natural ecosystem and are therefore classified as ethical rubies.
More defects than natural rubies, but usually claim to have less inclusions, implying they undergo numerous treatments and techniques.
Other variations include rubies that are colored pink, orange and red.
Synthetic Rubies:
There is no difference apart from the excavation or mining, everything else is the same. They do not naturally occur and therefore do not look something similar to a natural ruby. However they are chemically and physically identical to lab grown rubies.
Instead, they are manufactured in laboratories in controlled conditions.
Even though there may be few discrepancies in color, clarity or additional traits, they can still look quite a lot like natural rubies.
Lab-created rubies allow somebody to enjoy a prized possession while knowing it is complete in brilliance and transparency. These synthetic rubies can attain the highest level of clarity and vibrance, and since transparency and brilliance affect the overall value, so…well, these rubies should be cleared…. Due to their superior lab-grown processes, these rubies have the identical sturdiness as natural ones in carat weight, color, clarity and cut.
Some vibrant, purplish red rubies can be safely said to have been cultivated this way. When cultivated with attention to detail and proper faceting, their light-reflecting properties and brilliance easily rival their mined counterparts. Rubies greater than one carat are hard to find and are precious stones. But now, with lab-cultivated rubies, more end-result models are available, which are bigger and of high quality without mining, which is harmful to nature.
After a continued stare, it is easy to miss the point that synthetic rubies are genuine rubies with identical chemical properties and structure to natural rubies. Since they can be synthesized on par with demand but this time at a cheaper cost per carat, retailers, designers and jewelry brands can make good use of this. With the help of technology, lab-grown rubies are more affordable and reliable and serve as a good brand compared to the previously mined rubies.
Several advanced techniques are used for the production of lab-created rubies, but the most common ones are as follows:
The Czochralski Method (Pulling Method): The elements of a chemical solution are dissolved into a substance known as 'flux' by heating it to a high temperature. The flux is then used in conjunction with a seed crystal, which is submerged. As the crystal forms, it grows around the seed. When the seed is gradually extracted from the solution, it extends further as the crystal matures till it forms the synthetic Rubi of high volume and perfect fusion.
The Flux Melt Method: Though this technique is time-consuming and more expensive, the end result yields top-quality synthetic rubies. The required ingredients are dissolved in a solution that, upon a gradual drop in temperature, will crystallize over a period of 10 to 12 months. Because this solution is called flux, the rubies obtained have become natural gemstones in terms of appearance and structure.
Both methods and rubies produced have the same chemical composition as their mined, managed, eco-friendly, and economical rubies, which have superb color, clarity, and strength.
